System Architecture: Image Inspector & Metadata Analyzer

Deterministic, client-side execution path from raw input pixel buffer to production artifact.

Image Inspector & Metadata Analyzer system architecture blueprint
1 Binary EXIF & Header Parsing

Parses byte streams for TIFF/JFIF markers, camera sensor tags, focal length, aperture, and color space metadata.

2 Single-Pass Pixel Buffer Scan

Iterates through 32-bit pixel buffers to compute Red, Green, Blue, and Luminance frequency distribution histograms.

3 Octree Palette Quantization

Reduces color space to extract top dominant color clusters and computes uncompressed RAM footprint metrics.

How It Works

Understand the process and the deterministic browser engineering behind this utility.

01

1. Select Any Visual File

Upload any PNG, JPEG, WebP, SVG, AVIF, or TIFF image. The raw binary stream is read directly into memory.

02

2. Deterministic Pixel & Binary Passes

The file is parsed in two parallel passes: an APP1 EXIF segment binary scan and a single-pass 256-bin channel histogram calculation.

03

3. Extract Swatches & Inspect Pixels

Hover over any pixel coordinate to read exact RGBA/HEX values, or copy quantized dominant brand swatches with one click.

Behind The Scenes: Deterministic Engineering

Zero-Cloud, High-Performance Client Processing

Channel histograms are computed in a single cache-efficient pass over the Uint8ClampedArray pixel buffer using the ITU-R BT.601 standard for relative luminance (0.299R + 0.587G + 0.114B). EXIF headers are decoded by scanning JPEG marker bytes (0xFFE1) and parsing Little/Big Endian TIFF tag directories in-browser.

Underlying Browser Technologies:

  • Binary EXIF header parser (JPEG/TIFF)
  • Raw canvas pixel buffer scanning
  • Single-pass 4-channel histogram computation
  • Octree color quantization for palette extraction
